We work with Inuit seamstresses who are low-income, at-risk of homelessness or homeless to create the finished products that you see today. Our process is highly collaborative, and we often reflect the design preferences of each seamstress.
Seamstresses receive an abundance of support. Lineage Arts provides training on commercial stitching and finishing. These are transferrable skills that Inuit seamstresses can use to build their own businesses.
We also provide additional sealskin, sewing equipment, a safe space to work, and childcare (whenever possible) to seamstresses so that they may create their own products. We then connect to clients to purchase these products.
If you are an Inuit seamstress, contact us to find out how you can get involved!
